Electronic Medical Record SaaS for preventive and prescriptive care

The Concept

A cloud based healthcare repository and information exchange platform integrated with e-commerce to procure medications. An interface where users both individuals and at an enterprise level (schools, adoption agencies etc.) can access:

  • a pharmacy marketplace
  • prescription record services
  • patient adherence reminders
  • disease and trend analysis
  • health information exchange by sharing EHR data discreetly with a 3rd party API
  • alternate prescribed medication suggestions for lowering cost per dosage
  • preventive health checkups and pathology lab tests
  • predictive clinical decision support by capturing socio-demographic data

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

Dashboard Screen States

The health menu item on the screen gives access to checkpoints on the user dashboard. The default state of the dashboard shows the current conditions, medications and emergency contact for the user. The prescriptive aspect of the application with the scheduling feature for days and calendar events for the week like the appointment scheduling. Preventive care aspect by incorporation of health trends of the user like changes in BMI or blood pressure.

Social media marketing and branding

Print and web advertisements were created while promoting the concept online. This was our way to record the customer acquisition costs. The color palettes of gray and orange with sans-serif typography elements bound together with family pictures.

Facebook story series

Subtle user engagement series were created to generate interest in the market. Themes such as breaking superstitious myths about health or the best ways to keep healthy, became key topics for debate. This helped us created trending stories on social media.

Key learnings

This project came as a good source of learning and building expertise in SaaS. Interesting to study and build was the CMS for pharmacy e-commerce marketplace with zip based order allocation. This accompanied learning about the best practices and similar products in the markets if any. Turns out, Healthflask, is one of the first user-end app concept for managing EHR.

User research on what causes behavioral changes in people, led to the understanding that preventive care though ideal can be complex to induce. Thus incorporation of the health trends dashboard came about to make the user more self-aware and drive health conscious decisions on their own. This was also helpful to ideate new ways of data visualization to build a CMS that could convey the health information in more engaging ways.
